The aftermath of Tropical Storm Debbie has inundated parts of Brunswick and New Hanover Counties. For months, and even years, our residents have been raising concerns about the consequences of unchecked clearcutting and rapid development. We've been highlighting the detrimental effects and potential future risks, but our current representatives have consistently disregarded these warnings and prioritized their own interests. Senator Bill Rabon, Representatives Charles Miller (my opponent), and Frank Iller, along with Brunswick County Commissioners Frank Williams, Mike Forte, and Pat Sykes, seem to be serving the interests of developers and big-money contributors rather than our community. They've amassed substantial campaign contributions from developers, construction and asphalt firms, realtor associations, and their large PACs. Moreover, they appear to have personal ties to these industries.
Their Democratic challengers are struggling to match their fundraising power, relying instead on small individual donations. Our campaign is committed to working for the people and bringing sensible development practices to our area. Unfortunately, once a tree is cut, it cannot be undone. The urgency is clear—voting these representatives out in November is crucial for the future of our communities.
